Enjoyment is sometimes a choice

“Can you have an experience you don’t experience? The finest plate at a Michelin star restaurant might as well be a bowl of noodles if your mind is elsewhere”

4000 Weeks – Time Management for Mortals, Oliver Burkeman

Reminiscent of last week’s Week 72 Wanderings

PS – Reading Oliver Burkeman’s 4000 Weeks – Time Management for Mortals and will be quoting him 100x. So many gems.

Faith in the future made by the present

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

  • Steve Jobs

One of my all time favorite quotes.

There seems to be a level of trust we have to have in ourselves. The answers aren’t always apparent but to get what we want, there has to be some implicit trust in the process… Many call it faith. I’m not sure what it is, but to live lives we want, half that battle is this emotional rollercoaster. It’s accepting the unknown and going anyways.

Overnight success isn’t real

Starting doesn’t guarantee success, but failing to start guarantees failure.

Whenever I’m intimidated by how far I still have to go to meet one of my goals, I try to remind myself of this sentiment. I might not make it, but hell, what do I have to lose?

What we want already exists

Another one of my all time favorites.

Every time I step in to the unknown or start some new scary chapter in my life I remind myself of this quote. Every time I’m hesitant to take the next step or start the next project I remind myself. Each time I’m met with a decision of fear I try to remind myself to lean in to the fear because it usually means I’m on the right path.

It happened with college, all the time in gymnastics, starting my newsletter, starting passion projects. Every time I am very nervous about something, it usually means I’m on the right path.

Just letting you know, I’m reading this weekly and I sincerely look forward to it. I don’t know how many “followers” you have but I’m pretty sure it should be more because more people need to hear it. Better watch out or you might be creating a career for yourself…. or at least the start of a book.

Also, great quotes in this one that I’ve never read before. Not sure if your statement is pirated or not, but “accepting the unknown and going anyways” is good shit. Keep it up sucka!
