2 minutes of Failure by the Jobs
Seems like we just have to ask for the help we need. If nobody knows our problem, even if they’ve got the solution it ain’t gonna happen.
Reflection of the Week
Biggest weaknesses = biggest strength??
I genuinely believe if we’re abnormally deficient in a specific category it just means we’re that much more proficient in another.
“Name one genius that ain’t crazy?”
- Queen – Weird dude with mouth problems
- Beethoven – Deaf and had to figure out another way
- Van Gogh – Cut his own ear off and mailed it to a love (hmm, maybe not)
Oftentimes our weaknesses give us quirks that make us different from others – We just have to figure out how to use them to our advantage.
Personally I have a tendency to drift off and disassociate. I’ll daydream for hours and find it hard to focus on tasks or chores.
But I’ve also found that this same characteristic let’s me block everything out when I want and dive deep into problems. (It compliments writing well)
We’re all very good at certain things. Our ‘deficiencies’ can often be turned into our creative advantages.

7 minutes of Aristotle’s Type of Friendships
3 major types of relationships:
Utility – Friendships for what each brings to the table -> Business partners, colleagues, cashiers or classmates
Pleasure – Friendships for the enjoyment -> Fishing buddies, beer buddies, or teammates
Good – Most valuable friendships. Genuine relationships, members admire qualities and have a strong desire to help each person out. Sacrifice for their own well being for the benefit of the other is nearly always a component.
It’s cool to have this concept for understanding the different types of relationships we have. It also helped me differentiate between people I thought were genuine friends of the ‘Good’ but instead turned out to be closer to Utilitarian or Pleasurable when I sat down and truly thought about how we spent our time.
Trying to create more Friendships of the Good in my life.
(Aristotle can explain it a tad better than I can but that’s the gist – 7 min Video and article explaining)
