1 min – Not joy makes us grateful, grateful makes us joy

*Main Points of Note

  1. Quality of your relationships is the single greatest determining factor of last happiness
  2. Peace and Happiness do not exist in some oasis in a future point in time: If you aren’t happy now you still won’t be after you attain whatever goal you’re chasing. Gratitude is a wildly underrated practice. There’s always something to be grateful for and it could always be worse.
  3. You need a Purpose to give you life day in and day out. If you don’t find a purpose, society will assign you one whether you like it or not
  4. Materialistic items only speed up the hedonic treadmill resulting in only short term happiness
  5. The balance of Peace vs Purpose seem to contradict each other, I am still finding the line. How to build a better future while also enjoy the journey.
  6. Pillars of Wellness:

Habits Framework w Science

  1. HABITS – There’s no end state and nobody else makes you happy. You make you happy… and sometime it suckksss:

    • 1 min Action – Life’s like a video game – There is no end: if ur leveling up, you’ve already won
  2. My discovery – Peace, Purpose, Relationships

>> Find Purpose: Find Your Happy – Customized life brings us joy
>> Relationships

All research shows it’s the day in day out – Will vary per person Peace, Purpose, Relationships, diff based on genes – When I’m 100 on my deathbed how will I want to lived. Set up our habits to make us happy – What’re the things that bring us joy?.

No endpoint. We don’t just get to be happy. You have to work for it. Happiness is how we feel on a day to day, not a single set point in time. You don’t get to happy. It’s not a single destination. There is no endpoint. You don’t get happy when you promote nor have kids nor retire.

Nobody makes you happy. You make you happy. It’s ever-fleeting. “My [dad] told me happiness is something that you create” Rich Brian. It’s, in part, a choice.

  • Single Player Game – Wouldn’t escape anywhere. I can build this better future but if i’m not happy today… what’s the point?

For the longest time growing up I was perpetually dissatisfied with who I was and where I was in life. I didn’t like who I was. I was uncomfortable. It took me a long time to come to actually appreciate who I am and find a way to live my life that I was content with. It took me awhile to figure out how to live my life so that I was actually happy.
