Week 67 Wanderings (2-20-2023) – Venturing in to the Unknown and life as a dreamer

A Juicy Quote

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Henry David Thoreau

I actually found this quote on the intro to Dave Chapelle’s special. I love it. Seems like nobody really knows what we want to do ‘when we grow up’. Is there even ever a growing up, though? Do we ever grow up? Or are we always just a bit unsure of ourselves, unsure of the direction we want to go?

A Netflix comedy special

The Dreamer by Dave Chapelle

To be honest with you, I think Dave Chapelle is slightly overrated (come at me nerds). He’s never had me rolling on the floor laughing nor discussing bits with my friends, but I do still enjoy his standup (the Chapelle Show never once made me laughing out loud either).

Regardless of the onslaught of fake fans with pitch forks, his newest special was decent. The most helpful thing it did though, was to get me think about… well, being a Dreamer. Chapelle talks about how he’d been dreaming his life and living that dream in his mind since he was 12 years old. It’s cool to think that all of it starts with that origin of belief.

I wish I had a genie

If you’re not happy now, when will you be? You really think so?
I wish happiness was a destination

Sometimes it’s so frustrating that we get to choose to be happy…Because that means happiness is a choice… because that means it’s up to us… and that means if we’re dissatisfied with our lives it’s also up to us to fix it.

Happiness truly isn’t a destination. It’s not a mountain to climb or an oasis to reach, though life would be a hell of a lot easier if it was :/

An introspective song that is on my mind

Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen is a weird song but also kind of a graduation speech (it makes sense when you listen, trust me)

“Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don’t”

Fav quote from the song ^^

(Bonus)

I wrote a poem about how time pisses me off. Weird to finally share more personally stuff I’m thinking about but whatever, welcome to my wild mind.
