A Little Bit of Woah for the Week

Increased Focus

Binaural Beats – 8 mins by Andrew Huberman

Apparently this type of audio can decrease the time it takes to enter in to a state of focus???

I notice that it does takes time to move in and out of any ‘phase’ in life. Whether those phases are switching tasks, switching emotions, switching mental frames for our audiences, or even changing geographic settings. Phase changes could be deep sleep to light sleep, from sad to happy, or task management to deep work. But that ‘queueing up’ period is apparently a legitimate scientific phenomenon.

It seemed a bit like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me when I first heard about it (courtesy of my aunt) but I’ve come to appreciate Huberman’s advice and whether or not it’s legit, there’s no way these weird binaural beats have a worse effect on that transition phase. This plays in to that belief I guess?

Power of Expectations

Set timelines or it won’t get done. Without a clear view of where we’re going, the mind can’t quite conceptualize where we are trying to go.

If we add a specific end goal or deadline that we’re trying to accomplish, the mind seems to now have a heading that it can follow. Set a heading to set the direction. Then work backwards from there with a plan to create mini-goals Otherwise there’s no urgency.

A Reason to Let Loose

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

  • Steve Jobs

Faith. Belief. Confidence. Religion. Trust. Manifesting. Power of Habits. Power of Processes. Intuition.

Whatever it is. There’s got to be a level of buy in. You never quite know, but I’ve recently started buying in to this philosophy. It’s a weird and slightly spooky feeling, but once you commit you don’t go back.
