This Week’s Adventures
Easter, baby. Time with family – I went home this past weekend, but it’s weird. Home doesn’t really feel like home anymore, though. Most of my friends weren’t even home and at that point, it’s just… a city. It really made me realize that home really is where your friends and family are. I’ve done what feels like much of my development and ‘growing into myself’ after High School after I moved out, so I’ve got close friends across the whole US, and some globally. Idk, home just isn’t quite the same without them. In the wise words of one of them, “It’s just the place we came out the womb” XD. Going back ‘home’ makes it feel like a weird ghost town. A shell of a city. It really made me value those locations and the times I get to spend with friends and prioritize them higher.
On another note, visiting home made me realize that there are few social groups where the level of weird and funny matches that of family. Never before did I think I would be fed bread from a fork held by the toes of my cousin…i know… hahah, that was perhaps the hardest I’ve laughed in a year. It really made me appreciate the family, and all the bullshit that comes with it, that I do have. I guess it depends on which part of the relationship you choose to focus on…so I guess this one goes out to family 🙂 (Full disclosure 3/4 photos on here were not from this weekend but def represented the vibes, so what can ya do? :-/ )
A Thought to Wrangle
“Distance makes the heart grow fonder”
Something about spending time away from those you care about. Something ’bout it. Feels weird. Like a longing sensation…a cousin to nostalgia? Idk it’s weird. Don’t know what you got until it’s gone? Maybe, I dunno.
Fantastic Podcast
Joe Rogan and Russell Brand #1283
Idea proposed: As humans, we haven’t fully developed all of our senses. In the same way a deer physically can’t see a person in camouflage, we too might not be at the edge of our ‘perceptive abilities’, missing out on some 6th sense (:0 !!). Some people think things like Holotropic Breathwork (this page doesn’t fully do it justice), Pranayama Yoga (crazy stuff, btw), or DMT are a gateway to more senses. Some people muse that death might be a similar window (wtf !!). The podcast as a whole dives deeper and has some really interesting perspectives.
A Thing I Noticed
I found myself referencing a lot of Joe Rogan Episodes. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing, but I think too much of any singular source can be. An overreliance on any one thing, whether it be news, people around you, lifestyles, or interests – I find isn’t totally healthy.
It molds your thoughts and pulls them in that specific direction. There’s limited questioning involved and you don’t get exposed to alternate viewpoints.
I think that’s part of the reason I do like JRE so much though is that he offers a platform to people even if they’re controversial… Possibly especially so. So at least even if they’re wrong we get exposed to the polar opposite point of view – That is productive as long as we’re questioning what they say critically. If for nothing else, polar opposite viewpoints offer a safety net on the off chance we find ourselves dug too deep in a POV on the wrong side of history… queue 1984.
What Is This ‘Newsletter’?
The goal is to ultimately stay more involved with people in my life. The hope is if I’m able to share bits and pieces of my life and things I find, other people will share theirs, and the result will be just lil’ bitty community. I’m hoping by sharing things we all find, we can contribute to a happier, more interesting, more spontaneous, and more exciting lifestyle! 🙂
Also, I would love to hear thoughts and ideas so if you’ve got them (I know, a novelty) comment on them!! I’d love to see pics of what’s going on in your life too so if you feel so inclined, pls send them!
