Week 21 Wanderings (3-24-2023)

(3-24-23)

This Week’s Reflections

This week I realized something: I really don’t enjoy writing “Weekly Adventures”

It’s genuinely not fun for me. It feels monotonous. I realize that I really do not enjoy the repetitious account of events. Reminds me of a day when I was in Peru and had to figure out the budget, recounting every purchase of every day before. It was so painful and forced, there was nothing organic about it.

I 100% believe in the reflection of life, but allow yourself time to review it organically, slowly meandering through your mind, excited to explore the unknown.

The meticulous documentation of what I did each weekend hurts me like nails on a chalk board. It’s administrative and feels like a chore.

So in the art of making this Newsletter more enjoyable (hopefully for everyone) I’ll be taking the “Weekend Adventures” section out (with the possible substitution of “Weekly Reflections” :0 ). I might post pics. I might not. Depends on how I’m feeling. I started this whole thing as a way to share a little bit more of me and it’s not really productive if I dread creating it.

A Thought to Wrangle

“The more real you are, the less friends you’ll have”

One of, if not the most polarizing (and dominant & famous) figure in the entirety of Jiu Jitsu, Gordon Ryan posted this a little while ago. Made me think…

Do our closer friends just have a more real perception of who you genuinely are? And by the corollary, are we offering smaller and smaller real personas of ourselves to each ‘friend’ that creeps closer and closer to ‘acquaintance’ on the scale of friendship? Maybe our closest friends are really the ones that know the most about who we truly are at our core. And as a tangential thought:

Do we just filter ourselves in order to widen the net of people we can interact with.

A Mini Thought

Got this idea from the Brain Food Newsletter that I follow (Run by Shane Parrish). And honestly, it made me think. Are we just trying to get money or is there something fuller about life with having an abundance of time. They both offer freedom to a degree, but each has their limitations in the extreme. His statement felt like getting rich was step 1, but once you’re there the next step is getting wealth – Build yourself something that’ll keep you financially stable and use time as you wish. Juicy

A Thought From a Writer For a Writer

“If it’s hard work just thinking about doing it, don’t do it”

This quote is from Charles Bukowski an underground writer and poet. He’s got an one called So You Want to Be a Writer that is an impressively moving poem and deeply inspiring (highly recommend). It’s basically just a 2 minute read of Grade A advice on how to live a life that lights the soul on fire.

What Is This ‘Newsletter’?

Apparently, people care (mostly just my mom) so this newsletter serves to ensure I can stay more involved with people in my life. The hope is if I’m able to share bits and pieces of my life, other people will share theirs, and the result will be a far more interconnected community. So if you would like to hear more (or less), just ask!

The other piece of this newsletter will be to share interesting podcasts, songs, facts, or other pieces of information that had an impact on me in the hopes that they’ll be interesting or useful to someone else out there!

Also, I would love to hear from you so please respond and send some pictures!

Thanks for reading, nerds. If you liked this and you’re not a total loser u should sign up for my Newsletter (unless you actually aren’t a loser, then don’t sign up, it’s not good anyways)
